NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream review & swatches

Hi there, Gorgeous!

Today’s post is about NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream review & swatches, often called as NYX SMLC. I only have 2 shades: Buenos Aires & Abu Dhabi - here they are..

These are the swatches:

Abu Dhabi is a nude brown shade, while buenos aires is somewhat sweet light pink with hint of peach shade.

These are how they look on my lips:

I love the texture, it’s rather creamy like mousse instead of liquid which glides on my lips like a dream and quite buildable. When it first applied, it will look cream sheen for a few minutes, then it will turn to beautiful matte, the feeling on my lip is not as light as BREV though. And it doesn’t feel sticky at all!

The smell is also lovely, it reminds me of sweet cupcakes : ). The doe applicator designed perfectly to apply the products precisely, and staying power? Well.. I may it will sit nicely on my lips for 3-5 hours without meal. It’ll faint (not entirely, but my lip color can be seen vividly) after meals, so we need to bring that tiny lil’ cupcake in our pouch for touch up.

Some people say SMLC is drying, but it didn’t happen on me. My lips are always dry, but if I exfoliate it the night before and apply lip balm beforehand, it’s not drying at all.

What I hate about them, the pigmentation is inconsistent, one shade is different with another I suppose. Abu Dhabi is more opaque, 1-2 layers are enough to cover my natural lips color, and it is buildable, but not with the Buenos Aires one. It just couldn’t cover my lip color! And it’s more difficult to apply it evenly.

But the problem with Buenos Aires is solved when I mixed it with Abu Dhabi, when both are combined, the color turns out very pretty.. My kind of fave color! But it felt rather uncomfortable since it's so thick!

+ Not Sticky

+ Doesn’t transfer so much

+ Doesn’t dry my lips

+ Very Affordable

+ Easy to find

+ Have sweet (but not bothering) scent

Con(s):

- Staying power is so-so

- Inconsistence opacity for each shade
