Hello again gorgeous,
Do you, have you, or are you planning to add ampule to your skin care regime?
In this posting I'm going to share COSRX Propolis Light Ampule Review.
If you know Liah Yoo, you might have heard about the product.. I bought the product before I knew her though, and this was the first COSRX product that I purchased. But I just got a chance to try it around 3 months ago.. and let's just get straight to what this lil' bottle claimed.
"Propolis Light Ampule is intensive caring ampule with 83% of Black Bee Propolis Extract and naturally originated moisturizing ingredients which will make your skin glowy and smooth without stickiness."
HOW TO USE
Apply a proper amount of Propolis Light Ampule and massage over entire face.
For best results, COSRX Honey Ceramide Full Moisture Cream is recommended after the ampule.
INGREDIENTS
Propolis Extract, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cassia Obtusifolia Seed Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Panthenol, Arginine
Source: COSRX
There is ingredient that have a very low comedogenic rank based on CosDNA analysis: Butylene Glycol
Propolis is an anti-bacterial property which is good to help preventing and healing existing acnes, and the product contains 83.25% of it. WOW.
When I did some research prior to using COSRX Propolis Light Ampule, there are some people who had allergic reaction to propolis eventhough they can consume honey just fine.. So I did patch test around 2 weeks and thank God I had no reaction towards propolis.
The product arrived 1/3 empty. No leaks detected, Not sure why
When I tried it the first time, I had fungal acnes on my forehead and I heard from Liah Yoo, propolis is one of fungal acne remedy, and COSRX Propolis Light Ampule is one of her fave product.. so I had quite a high hope for this product to work.
Packaging: COSRX Propolis Light Ampoule is packaged in a small, transparent, glass bottle with a black dropper lid + another transparent safety lid to make it more travel-friendly, simple and efficient, just like another COSRX products. The product came with a COSRX typical box with English instructions and igredients. The manufacuring and expiration date is stamped at the bottom of the bottle
Scent: It has no scent that I could sense so far.
Texture: At the first time I took a drop of COSRX Propolis Light Ampoule, I was confused why using the "light" term when the texture of this sheer honey-colored like liquid is thick and sticky (thicker than any serum I've ever tried), and also left my skin feels a bit tacky after application, but it was surprisingly absorbed super fast, and when it absorbed, the tackiness is gone and it didn't leave any greasy film, the ampule indeed feels light on my skin.
Performance:
I've been using Cosrx Propolis Light Ampule for 1 month as a substitute to my serum to check its performance better. The product gave a bit of additional hydration to my skin but not enough for dry winter days. I noticed my existing pimples healed faster, and my dark spots from acne scars faded faster as well. Unfortunately, it did nothing to my fungal acne, and it didn't prevent new pimples to come either.. I don't know whether it's just a coinsidence or I'm indeed sensitive with one of COSRX main ingredient(s) (my suspect is Butylene Glycol) but I'm getting new pimples easily when using this ampule
I only use 2 drops per application for my whole face, yet the product is running out so fast, so the last two weeks I only used it for AM routine. (the product has already ran out when I'm writing this post)
Here's how my skin looks after a month of using COSRX Propolis Light Ampule:
Pro(s):
+ Gives additional hydration
+ Feels really light on my skin
+ Quickly absorbed and doesn't leave any greasy film
+ Hygienic & travel friendly packaging
+ Helps to heal existing pimples pretty fast
+ No highly comedogenic ingredients (only irritating to some whose sensitive to one of the ingredients)
+ Easy to find
Con(s):
- Doesn't prevent new acnes
- Doesn't reduce fungal acne
- A lil bit more expensive than other COSRX products
Verdict: It's a good additional step to add a bit of more hydration to the skin without feeling heavy or greasy, but obviously not hydrating enough to subtitute my current serum. It also helps in diminishing existing acnes and its scars, but strangely does nothing to prevent them from coming (this probably because I'm sensitive to one of COSRX main ingredients though, so this one is very subjective). The price is also not as affordable as another COSRX product with so little product that only last for 1-1.5 months.
Repurchase: Nah.. I'm happy enough with my current 3 steps skin care routine.
Price: USD 19 (when on sale) - USD 28
Where to buy: Sociolla (Use code SBN049B9E at check out to get IDR 25k off for min. purchase of 150k)
Thanks for reading my post!
ps. The product is NOT SPONSORED and the review was made honestly based on my own experience and opinion
Love,
I wonder what will happen if I use my ordinary propolis as a face serum. Can we do that? But the smell is sooo strongg.. :D
ReplyDeleteI did that though, to test the performance, but it was not enough for cold winter days.. It's not as hydrating as serums so I'm not sure if it's enough for dry skin types. Really? I couldn't really smell anything LOL blame insensitive nose!
