Review: Essano Rosehip Regenerating Facial Moisturiser

Hi there, gorgeous,

I've been looking for one moisturizer that can moisturizes my dehydrated and  severe acne prone skin. And I tell you what, it's waay more difficult than finding a husband (not the right husband though, because it's def impossible lol).
I'm trying my best to keep the ingredients as clean as possible, but if you read my previous posts, my skin can't even handle butylene glycol when everyone says it's non-commedogenic and non-irritating. When I visited TK. Maxx (which is my fave store in the Netherlands lol), there was one bottle of moisturizer that really caught my eye: Essano Rosehip Regenerating Facial Moisturiser.
Essano Rosehip Moisturiser Review

My fave kind of packaging, with my fave color, and beautiful design in one product. When I checked the ingredients the 2nd main ingredients is aloe vera, and I found no butylene glycol. Searched for the reviews, all positive, I'm sold. And here is my Essano Rosehip Regenerating Facial Moisturiser honest review after using this NZ product for 3 months.

Official Description:
"Powerful active natural botanicals and certified organic Rosehip Oil combine to hydrate and nourish your skin at micro-cellular level.
This facial moisturiser is rich in certified organic Rosehip Oil, vitamins and organic Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter."

Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice*, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Cetearyl Glucoside, Coco-caprylate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Bentonite, Cetearyl Glucoside (and) Sorbitan Olivate, Cera Alba, Glyceryl Stearate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Benzyl Alcohol (and) Dehydroacetic Acid, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil*, Xanthan Gum, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Fragrance, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Cyathea Medullaris (Mamaku) Extract, Phormium Tenax (Harakeke) Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Lactic Acid.

97.27% of the total ingredients are of natural origin.
*14% of the total ingredients are from organic farming.

How to use:
After cleansing, gently massage into face, neck and dĂ©colletage.
Source: Essano

And after checking the whole ingredients, this are some ingredients you would wanna know if you have severe acne prone skin:

Glyceryl Stearate is mildly comedogenic
Cetearyl Alcohol is mildly comedogenic
Sunflower oil could be mildly comedogenic
Rosehip oil is mildly comedogenic
Vitamin E is mildly comedogenic

Fragrance is irritating

Read my post here to see which level of comedogenic would effect your skin (It's in Bahasa Indonesian, though)

Packaging: As I mentioned earlier, the packaging is probably the reason why I bought it lol. It's beautifully designed, kind of eye-catching with its 'free of' list. The bottle looks like glass, but it's actually a sturdy plastic transparent-brown bottle, which makes it lighter to travel.

And my favorite part: the dispenser is pump! It's super handy since you don't have to take the packaging, open the cap and scoop the cream (or press the tube), then put it back to your shelf, you just simply pump it! It saves a bit of time if you're always in a hurry like me lol, while still more hygienic than the jar ones. Quite travel friendly, because it's quite light and doesn't spill, but if you're a budget carrier traveler like me then you've gotta put the cream to a smaller container since it's 140 ml.

Scent: It has a subtle fresh scent that doesn't bother at all. But I really wish it was formulated without any fragrance.

Texture: The product has a light cream (or heavy lotion lol) texture, that feels a bit heavy upon application because it doesn't absorb immediately and feels a bit greasy. But it will fully absorbed eventually and left my face matte, light, without any trace of shiny film.
Review Essano Rosehip Regenerating Facial Moisturiser
Performance: I've been using Essano Rosehip Regenerating Facial Moisturiser daily for 3 months in both AM & PM routine. A little goes a long way with this product, one kidney bean size of the cream is more than enough for my entire face. After those 3 months, I can see my pimples are getting less, and the black spots (from the scars) are disappearing too. This is my before - after Essano Rosehip Regenerating Facial Moisturiser pic:

But I still get pimples, and when I do the pimples are big and deep (cysts), and if you zoom the picture in, you'd notice that I've got small bumps and clogged pores.

This is my first time trying skin care with rosehip oil as one of its ingredients (not rich in them obviously, since the rosehip oil is almost at the bottom of the ingredients list), and looking from the result, my skin loves some ingredients that my pimples healed faster, but at the same time my skin also hates one (or more) ingredients that I got clogged pores (my big suspect is FRAGRANCE!) and it's probably isn't moisturizing enough for my dehydrated skin, because I only get cysts when my skin is not moisturized properly.

I love their claims:

But why didn't they also formulated it with 'NO FRAGRANCE'? Sensitive and acne prone skin will appreciate it so, so much. Now, I think I'll stop with this moisturizer and tried Rosehip Oil (from other brand) instead to check how my skin will react.

Pro(s):
+ No greasy film after it's fully absorbed
+ A little goes a long way
+ Reduced hyperpigmentation
+ Made my pimples heal faster
+ Affordable
+ Hygienic and pretty packaging

Con(s):
- Didn't moisturize my skin enough
- Fragranced
- Clogged my pores (probably because it made my skin irritated because of the fragrance or lacking of moisture, or both, hence easier to get congested)
- Not widely available (only in NZ, OZ and you can find it sometimes at TK Maxx in some Europe cities)

Verdict: It's fragranced, so it's irritating my skin for the long term for sure, and because there are lot's of natural ingredients that my skin is not really familiar with either, I'm also not sure whether my skin probably can't take one of them, or more. But one thing for sure, if you have dehydrated, sensitive and/or acne prone skin, any skin care that contains fragrance is never a good idea.

Repurchase: No.

Price: AUD 20 (I bought it quite cheap at TK Maxx, EUR 7 if I'm not mistaken)

Where to buy: TK Maxx in some cities in Europe (found it in TK Maxx Eindhoven, the Netherlands)
or check their own site if you live in NZ / AU

Thanks for reading my post!

  2. Wah aku kira awalnya ini body wash gitu kalo lihat dari kemasannya. Btw aku juga sensitif sama wangi-wangian dalam skincare. Seringkali bruntusan jadinya.
